I've been reading a lot of books on organization and time management for creative people lately, and I've realized how important it is for creatives to learn from resources that are actually written with us in mind. Many of the "classic" productivity and organization books weren't designed for the way creative minds tend to work.

One of the most helpful things I've learned is to group similar tasks together. Batching tasks saves time and mental energy because you're not constantly switching gears. I also find it helpful to give my months, weeks, and even days specific themes or areas of focus.

Other strategies that have worked well for me include using a timer, setting deadlines, and creating a reward system for completing the less exciting tasks. I've found that making boring tasks more fun can make a huge difference. Turning something into a game, challenge, or competition helps me stay motivated. For example, when I'm cleaning, I put on upbeat music and dance while I clean!

I hope some of these tips help you too! Another interesting thing I've discovered is that while I don't have ADHD, there does seem to be some overlap between highly creative thinking and certain ADHD traits. Because of that, I've found that many organization and productivity strategies designed for people with ADHD can also be incredibly helpful for creatives.

What are some organization or productivity tips that work for you?
